Over the Martin Luther King weekend, my husband Pierce took me down to Balboa Island in Newport Beach, Ca. It’s one of my favorite places in Southern California. The small family-owned shops, cute beach houses and boats on the water, make for a fun adventure each and every time we visit. We ate at a little mexican place on Main Street and then had our first frozen banana together! We both got oreo dipped bananas and they were amazing! They didn’t last very long either.
Pierce was the perfect date, photo subject and best friend to take this trip with – he even posed for a few shots! Thanks for stopping every few seconds so I could take pictures!

*Pierce took this shot of the taffy. :)

It’s.SOOO.good.

All done.

Until next time Balboa Island.

How fun! Cool shots!
Oh, these make me want to go somewhere with boats and water and cute candy shops. What a great adventure!
Boy, Stace: do your Balboa pictures bring back memories! Those are my old stompin’ grounds, especially the frozen banana place. That was the first place Nancy Olsen and i used to head before driving home from the beach—that and The Crab Cooker. I even remember JP Maxwell. My dad used to shop there. My grandpa and his wife, Ruela used to live near there, on Lido Isle.
Are the paddle boats still there?
