Poppy Lane & Co. + GIVEAWAY!!!

This photography blog of mine has been neglected for some time now. I started a new business venture and adventure in November of 2014, so about 8 months ago, making bracelets – newborn to adult sizes, for boys and for girls – it’s called Poppy Lane & Co. and the website is: www.poppylaneandco.com and our Instagram (where most of our giveaways are) is: www.instagram.com/poppylaneandco and Facebook: www.facebook.com/poppylaneandco

PoppylaneWatercolorI am still doing my photography, a lot actually, but needless to say… haven’t had time to blog between all I have been doing. My priorities have changed, shifted, and I am trying to take care of Adelaide the best I can, own a handmade shop, while still doing what I love and photographing people.

I wanted to share a little about Poppy Lane & Co. in this blog post, and also offer a GIVEAWAY of a mommy + me set of any bracelet of choice!

When I started PL&C, I wanted to create something that was fun for kids to wear, but also safe. I was gifted a few bracelets when Adelaide was born and one was stretchy and broke pretty quickly, beads flying everywhere, and it scared me that she would choke on the beads. Then the second bracelet was a cute pearl bracelet that wasn’t stretchy, and I loved it. However, as soon as Adelaide started teething, the pearl coating (because it obviously wasn’t real pearl) started to chip off onto Adelaide’s lips and mouth. I was so sad that she couldn’t wear her cute bracelet anymore. One day I decided to see if I could replace it and make my own. I found higher-quality beads and made my first bracelet! The only negative, it was super expensive to make my own bracelet, because the materials were marked up at the boutique bead store. I started doing research and found the best materials I could in downtown Los Angeles for a fraction of the price, making it worthwhile to make and sell bracelets. I was a little hesitant to start my own shop, fearing I would fail. I mulled over the idea of starting a handmade business for months, like almost 5 months! Then, finally, I opened November 10, 2014. This was my first photo I posted about my shop opening. Of course, Adelaide was my hand model.

If I was going to open up shop, I was going to do it right, from the beginning. I made a to-do list of everything I needed to do before starting my own handmade business. It took some time, but I was glad I was ready to go from the beginning instead of opening up shop with hiccups along the way.

I opened with a few simple beads and colors, both in 14k gold and sterling silver materials. Some of the beads include: Mother of Pearl, 14k Gold-filled, Sterling Silver, Amethyst, and Jade.

Since then, I’ve been adding new colors and had multiple releases of new styles. I’m so happy with the direction Poppy Lane & Co. is going and can’t wait for what I have in store for my little business in the future.

As a little thank you for supporting my small shop and reading this (lengthy) blog post, I’m hosting a giveaway!

All you have to do is, check out the Poppy Lane & Co. website: www.poppylaneandco.com and look at all our bracelets, come back and leave a comment telling me your favorite color of bracelet and why! That’s it!

First of all, so inspiring. Truly. Secondly, I LOVE the sunshine yellow bracelet! The colour makes me so happy just looking at it! So bright and fun, and easily paired with an outfit. Seriously amazing colour! My absolute fave.

It’s a tie between the cherry red (who could not like that color?), large mother of pearl, and gold 4MM.
